We believe that God’s heart desire is that people become followers of Christ, not just “converts” (Matt. 28:19-20). He wants believers who are living out their faith in tangible ways. We have chosen to use the words “LEARN, LOVE, LIVE” to keep this focus before us.
LEARN means that our desire is for every believer to learn about God from the Bible and grow in their love for Him. The emphasis here is knowledge based on the Word of God (II Tim. 3:16). We believe the Bible is 100% true and is the basis of all that we believe and practice.
LOVE stands for loving God and others, but we are using it to express our relationship to God and each other as a church family. In other words, we want to form a community of believers who love and worship God and are bound to each other by love. We want people to develop deep and lasting relationships, see themselves as a team, and share the responsibility and passion in making followers of Christ.
LIVE is the third term we have chosen to define our direction. “LIVE” is the action side of “LOVE.” LOVE focuses on the formation of a unified body and developing relationships within it. LIVE is taking action as a member of the group. It is using our spiritual gifts, time, talents, and other resources to serve God together. It is performing acts of love by ministering to each other, praying for each other, encouraging one another, and joining hands to see people come to Christ (Ro. 12:4-8; I Cor 12).
Jesus didn’t say, “Make disciples by teaching them what I said.” He said, “Make disciples by teaching them to obey. . .“ (Matt. 28:20). Grace Fellowship measures success when we see people growing in their knowledge of God through regular Bible study, faithfully worshipping, living in loving relationships, and serving together as one body to reach people for Christ and make disciples who can make disciples.
It’s my heart’s desire that you join us and by the grace of God leave a mark in this world for our most glorious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
